Spanish in Shanghai
It has been my pleasure to work with the SpanishPod team at Praxis Language over the past year, and they have just made it to their 100th lesson today (if you listen carefully, you may hear a mention of me in that episode). They’re really doing amazing things!
Check out one of their recent videos, Spanish Fever in China:

Hold tight, I’m loading a higher quality version as we speak! : )
Over the past month I have become an avid listener to Spanish Pod. Here’s my 2 mao. Firstly, I think the material is excellent. The dialogues are clear, concise, contemporary, and useful. I listen to a podcast (or 3) every day during my commute to work on the train. I find that even if I don’t listen that carefully, the phrases get stuck in my head…which is a very, very good thing for language learners. JP and Liliana explain things very well, and the format (repeat dialog 3 times, translation, explanation, repeat dialog 3 times) is a great way to solidify the new expressions every day.
However…I must say that JP’s cheesiness is completely over the top. (John, maybe you could put the word in…I have a feeling I’m not the only one who feels this way). He is constantly interjecting personal anecdotes with little relation to the material, making corny jokes, and cracking himself up. It’s to the point that I nearly have to turn off the podcast because I can’t take it anymore. JP, if you’re out there brother, try to tone it down a bit. You make an excellent teacher, but your chops comedy aren’t quite as 厉害.
Nice ad, a good idea with amateur charm.
If you don’t mind I’ll embed in my blog…
See ya!
When he wakes up, he says: “你好,上海”. Isn’t it supposed to be: “早上好”?
Haha, yeah, nice ad! so surprising.
