Scheduled Sinosplice
I’ve been writing this blog for over three years. It has become my hobby of choice. A lot of bloggers burn out or get bored, but I find it easier than ever. Most days, there are about ten potential entries I could write if I felt like it. Granted, a lot of those entries would be “filler” entries. The other type of entry, which I like to think of as the “quality” entry, requires inspiration and more time to write. I haven’t written a good “quality” entry for a while, but there will be more. (This is another “filler” entry.)
The point of this post is to announce that, starting today, I’m following a blogging schedule. There will be a new entry every weekday morning. This is pretty easy to do, because I’ll have the entries written ahead of time and scheduled in WordPress to be posted at a certain time. I haven’t decided what exact time is best to post, but I’m starting with 7am (China time).
There was a time when I would have thought that a “blogging schedule” was ridiculous. However, I no longer feel there will be any problems thinking of topics, I still like writing, and writing entries to be posted at a later date helps me manage my time better. While I was visiting home, I loved being able to neglect my blog for a whole week while new posts continued to appear every day. It’s a better way to blog.
So that’s the news. Sinosplice Weblog: Monday through Friday, one new entry a day.
haha, seems to be your daily work, uh?
well, make a schedule is good even though that means human beings may become robots. ;P
by the way, do you also get a schedule for your chinese blog or will you postpone it without day?
Next thing you know there’ll be guest bloggers, weekly columns, branded spinoffs (Sinosplice Food, Sino-biz, and Indosplice), and then you’ll sell the whole package to NetEase for a cool 10 million yuan.
Really – the only thing I felt was a bit strange about the previous scheduling effort was when you mentioned something you were doing right then, like writing “Still, it’s so nice to be back in a country where I can access any website I wish,” before you had even gotten on the plane.
But it’ll be nice to have something in the RSS box every morning.
Kastner,
The Chinese blog needs to be exported to other software (I’m thinking WordPress) so that it can keep its comment function. I’ll do it soon (I hope).
zhwj,
I do have big plans for Sinosplice, but not exactly in those directions…
I know what you mean about the confusion with “now” when pre-publishing blog entries. I remember at the time being unsure how to go about it, because there would most definitely be some readers that are unaware or have forgotten that the entries were written ahead of time.
As I get used to this method I’ll figure out a good way to handle it and be consistent about it.
Well, don’t sit & worry about it; just do it! Dale Carnegie said that, I believe.
Save me John you’re my only hope!
Blah, I’m having more problems with wordpress and this time I don’t think its either my server or anything I did. I come to my blog to post something new only to find all most posts gone and this message left.

Jing,
Could you send me an e-mail about this? The one you use for comments doesn’t appear to be real.
